I can't hold this against you, and I'm sorry to my friends who've been waiting for months now for me to act normal. Don't hold your breath. I wish you would just fall out of my head like the bright red leaves in my backyard. Reassurance from my friends it'll be alright, but this six year knot won't untie overnight. The one thing I don't get is why you jumped back in my head when you dragged me to your room and you sat me on your bed and you said "Patrick, I miss you." I just wanted to kiss you, but by then you had made up your mind. If only I'd made mine. My heart has been broken down and it's been grinded out, and it resembles now the fine sand you walk on with him. I can't even imagine what the tide has left in store for me. At least my debris can no longer cut your feet.

You're the last girl in this town who doesn't
Make me cringe or grind my teeth at the simple sight of you.
I'll let my pen and paper be the ones who let you know.
I've lost a lasting admiration for the world around me,
But I see the best in you.
And if you split my skull in two you'd find yourself trapped in a library
Of books on thoughts I've always been too afraid to let you read.
I hope you'll be the spark that helps me burn every page.
I've lost a lasting admiration for the world around me,
But I see the best in you.
And I hope that you do, too
'Cause you're like the stars to sailors, before the land is found.
Or a monument to victory in a city burning down.
If I could only see the world through eyes as bright as yours,
Maybe these dark clouds would finally clear up.
